A woman was walking along the east coast park when she stumbled upon an unusual old lamp. She picked it up and cleaned it off, and suddenly a Genie appeared. The amazed woman asked if she was going to receive the usual three wishes.

I've got several freelance jobs while waiting for my April13 enlistment!

Jobs like...Camp instructing, softball umpiring, and relief teaching!

For Camp instructing right...it's just taking charge of about 20students while they have outdoor camps. Leading them around and facillitating their games.

For softball umpiring... It's just, being a referee to secondary school games.

As for relief teaching, I'll be teaching Physics at maris stella for 2 weeks!

on a very beautiful thursday afternoon, 4 extremely motivated and hardworking students from Victoria Junior College decided to have a productive studying session at Bishan community library. They were so motivated that they even ran to ensure they got tables early in the morning

drawing inspirations from the clouds always helps in keeping one's mind at ease

the session though was not all study. there was law breaking and even gambling involved

so hardworking that he fell asleep grasping his notes tightly

Ng XX was eating in the library which is strictly forbidden(identity is protected in case the library officers who enforce the law in the library chance upon this blog and take severe action against this young man for breaking the rules)

the bet on the tissue paper which states that if CHIA XIN HUI has children 10 years from today, she is to pay KANG JUNWEI BENJAMIN 1000 dollars. however there is no indexation of the contract which means in the highly unlikely event that singapore's inflation rate reaches an imposssible high of 10^10000000 the nominal amount will be paid. however if she still has no children(note she can be married though just that without kids) then benjamin kang has to pay her.

this blog is dead. it needs a revival. how shall it be done? we have no skills, no knowledge, no means to accomplish this noble task of reviving the dead. yes, you may say, skills need to be developed, knowledge needs to be obtained. and yet, do we spend time searching? do we spend time seeking what we cannot comprehend? do we, as level-headed individuals, invest our lives scouring the universe for such troves of knowledge and wisdom that is currently beyond our reach?

no, we do not. instead, to revive the dead, we choose to use our innate ability, our inborn talent, or some environmentalists may say, our natural resources. yet unlike the natural resources of the earth, ours cannot be used up, for it is intangible, it is infinite. now you may ask: what is this advanced skill that i am talking about? what is so great about this ability that it is able to outshine that of the earth?

well, to put it in simple terms, it is simply this: to be able to spout mountains and mountains of rubbish, or in today's context, crap. indeed this requires creativity, indeed this requires a tremendous amount of ingenuity, but it too, boils down to one having the desire to see people ROFL, to hear people LOL, to witness the redefinition of the Adidas logo. this is the purpose of our crapping power, it is the epitome of our wanting to speak out and be heard. yes, this can revive the dead. believe it, for i think i have just proven my point.

Mas Selamat bin Kastari, accused leader of the city-state's wing of the Islamic militant network Jemaah Islamiah (JI), released to Reuters February 28, 2008, with a moustache and goatee (R) and clean-shaven. Interpol has issued an urgent global security alert for the accused leader of an al Qaeda-linked militant network who escaped from detention in Singapore on Wednesday. Singapore said a "security lapse" led to the escape of Kastari from the toilet of a detention centre, leading to an apology from the government for a "security lapse."
Interpol's Orange Notice alert means that Kastari's photograph and fingerprints will be issued to each of the world police group's 186 national central bureaus.
"Singapore is clearly doing all that it can on a national level to locate this fugitive and through issuing an Orange Notice, Interpol and all of its member countries can support these efforts on an international scale," said Interpol's executive director of police services Jean-Michel Louboutin in a statement.
Kastari's escape is seen by some experts as highly embarrassing for Singapore, which says its tight security network and wide intelligence operations have prevented terror attacks on the island.
The leader of the opposition Singapore Democractic Party, Chee Soon Juan, said the escape raised troubling questions and asked the government for answers on how a man with a limp got past security measures or personnel.
"The debacle calls into question the competence of the Home Affairs minister," said Chee, who is not a member of Singapore's parliament. He called for an inquiry with police accounts and security camera footage.
Police said they arrested a 58-year-old man who made a call from a public telephone on Thursday claiming to be Kastari and threatening to attack multiple locations.
Kastari is 47 and has five children, according to local newspapers.
About 20 Nepalese gurkhas with sticks were combing a wooded area near the detention centre where Kastari was being held, a Reuters eyewitness said.
The manhunt, which started on Wednesday, saw thousands of policemen and army officers line roads and forested areas in Singapore. But their presence in the area around the detention centre was scaled back on Friday.
Security in schools near the area has been beefed up. A spokeswoman for The Learning Vine, a nearby child care centre, said it was running drills for toddlers in case of a bomb.
Local newspapers reported that Indonesian and Malaysian police have been alerted. Security experts told Reuters that Kastari's next stop might be Indonesia, an hour away by boat from Singapore.
Indonesia's National Police Chief Sutanto said authorities there were on alert. "Of course we will help Singapore, if he flees here. This is a common responsibility because terrorism is a threat to every country," Sutanto said. "For the fugitive, he would be better to surrender for everybody's sake.

stop studying for CTs for the moment everyone. cause the TERRORIST HAS ESCAPED!!!!

following the recent escape of JI leader Mas Selamat, the safety of Singapore as a nation is threatened. following islandwide searches which has thus far yielded no results, it is now questionable if searches are as detailed as what has been reported. conspiracy theories has risen by the hundreds on the internet in local forums in response to this event. what it seems though(what we are made to believe) is that a short lapse of concentration of the guards in the detention centre has allowed this man to limp out(hes a bai ka) and walk past the guards and out to hide in a cemetery where he was last seen approaching. however, just from this sentence alone, it has already raised many talking points. being a high security prisoner, it is highly likely that he was being watched by many guards with surveillance cameras on him at any one moment. any attempt to escape will therefore be unlikely or even impossible. but...he still did. is there another story behind this escape? could there be an accomplice within the detention centre? or is it even possible that its a move by the government to create a false alarm as part of ANTI-TERRORIST week(which we have not known about as the government will release this news next wednesday to surprise everyone) to allow us to understand the feeling of being at threat constantly? this is something we will not know but one thing that is certain is that even if half of singapore gets bombed. if the east is not affected, our CTs next week will go on as per normal.so work hard everyone and may the terrorist get caught(if he even escaped of course)

today is TOTAL DEFENCE day. so today we must be defensive! pick up some martial arts, people, then can use for self-defence. today when we play basketball, no offense allowed. all people must play defense, to commerorate the significance of total defence day.

and we must initiate the removing of fences around the school, as stipulated by the name of the day---total DE-FENCE day. no fences around school please. in case of terrorist attack. students and teachers alike will be able to escape TOTALLY from the holes left behind by the non-existent fences. yes, as mentioned above, we are to escape TOTALLY. not in pieces.

and if you haven't realized yet, we are to use de-fence (the fence) to protect ourselves, so the learning of self-defence and defensive play in basketball cannot suffice. in this day and age, the arts of defensive techniques have become obsolete and are replaced by the skill of using fences to aid in our protection. but when we de-fence the school on total defence day, there will be no more fences left to protect the innocent civilians that is us, but instead we are left with gaping holes and vulnerabilities that our skills from the good old days cannot fill and address.

so. at the end of it all. by following the tradition of tearing down the fences, we are left weakened and are actually NOT defending ourselves at all. so DE-FENCing is not really DEFENSING. it is actually removing the fences that protect us as loyal citizens and leaving us unable to utilise our skills of using the fences in our protection.

when all's been said and done, the fence will be rendered useless. and we will go one big round all over again, one TOTAL circle. the cycle repeats itself.

Promoting track as a fun cca thru our CNY TRNG PROG

Track and Field is the best cca to be in. We have a wide variety of fun stuff to do for trng, especally if you are in sprints, like soccer, floorball, frisbee. For this cny, the sprinters will be trng too! So do consider joining Track and Field, the heaven of Vjc. (ok enough for crapping, this post is actually for trackers only.)

Sprinters, there will be trng this Saturday(9 Feb) at Bishan Stadium at 9am. But this is only for those who can make it on sat

Those who can make it on sat, you will still have to train, but its on our own and its circuit.

For 10om/200m/110mh/100mh

Things to do in 1 set:
1) 100m then do 15 push ups
2) 100m then do 25 sit ups
3) 100m then do 20 squats

the pace of 100m will be at 90% and do at least 5 sets.
there is a 3mins rest between each set. thats it for circuit.

after circuit, do a 20min fast run
and finish off with core stability*

For 400m/400mh

Things to do in 1 set:
1) 400m then 15 push ups, 25 sit ups and 20 squats

the pace of 400m for the guys is 75s-90s, the girls is 85s-100s
and do at least 5 sets with 2-3mins rest in between each set and thats all for circuit.

after circuit, do a 30mins jog
and finish off with core stability*

*front, back, left side and right side bridge. do 3 sets, each side is 1min with 1min rest in between each side.

hello 07s42. if u all recall a week back or so, we had an ice skating session and it was super fun.so therefore to accommodate people who want to go again and also include people who were unfortunately overseas at that time, some people who refuse to be named strongly support the notion of another proposed ice skating session.

however, if the sources do not fail me, kallang was a rip off thus we should go to jurong, the best rink in singapore. however not many know how to go but we are still going there anyway.

Sometimes we think too much. We read too much into peoples' actions, thinking that they have ulterior motives, when all they want to do is just to help you. And in other cases, our thoughts and attitudes are so complicated that people are unable to understand us. In an attempt to hit the century post on this blog (we're at 91 now, excluding this one) , I'll revisit simplicity, to its very roots.

Simple. Innocent, trusting. Believing that there is still good in all people. Looking at the positives of life and people, instead of focusing on the negatives. This is simplicity. Knowing that the world out there is not very desirable, yet choosing not to dwell in its imperfections, instead holding on to faith, hope and love. Circumstances look bleak, but we continue to trust, to hope that all will work out in the end. Not wrapping ourselves up in our emotions, getting consumed by them, letting them shape us into the very people that we don't wish to become. Simple. Sometimes that's all we need. We'll feel better, I guess. But that's not all. We'll know for sure that there are better times coming. As simple as that.

I can hear the raindrops falling outside. Or is it just a figment of my all-too creative imagination? Perhaps. But it doesn't matter, not really. Not when we are free to imagine things that we would like to see in this crazy world. For example, peace, justice, honour, just to name a few. Who wouldn't desire more of these traits and values being lived out, being practiced around the world? Especially when it seems so difficult to discover even a fragment of the above-mentioned values in day to day situations. Another day, another murder, another robbery, another dishonest act. Depressing isn't it? But truly, nothing in this world can or ever will be perfect. Circumstances, the environment and people will never stop changing. Indeed, the only constant in life is CHANGE itself. Instead of complaining and then retreating into our own shells, then expecting the situations to change for the better, to be more convienient for us, why not adjust and adapt to the circumstances itself? Most of the time, it is us who need to change, since the notion of the circumstance changing to suit our preferences is usually out of the question. To thrive in any circumstance, to be independent of our circumstance and not be victimised by them, we need to develop the ability to adjust in all situations, good or bad. But this doesn't mean we compromise on our values, our stands on various key issues on our life, just to adapt. We still need to stand by our convictions, firmly rooted to our beliefs. And in the process of doing so, we never stop doing our best to influence others in a good way. Adjust our mindsets, our attitudes, in a way that is beneficial to society and the world at large. =)

holidays are here. yet again. for some, it may be a good time to catch up on lost sleep. for others, it may present the perfect opportunity for them to indulge in trivial pursuits. and yet for some people, holidays give them an avenue to vent their frustrations at the happenings of our daily lives, or to embark on an exciting journey of self-discovery. but to all of us, i believe, holidays are a time for relaxation, for enjoyment, for refreshment, so that our once-dead batteries can be fully recharged again. the arrival of holidays means there are merely 47 days left in 2007. these 47 days (not counting today) can be wasted, or they can be put to good use. do we choose to grow in our stature and wisdom and do some things which we have never attempted before in our life? or do we choose to let this golden opportunity bypass us? 47 days. what are we going to do with them??

Goodbye, field. Though it will soon be replaced by a world class astro turf, the memories will remain with Victorians forever. The field touched the lives of all Victorians, past and present. It was where we ran, threw, fell, jumped, walked and played. It was where we screamed for joy and bowed our heads down in sorrow. The field has been with VJ through all the ups and downs. It was there on the field that games were won and lost. It was there that Victorians cheered and showed the indomitable Victorian spirit. We will never forget the times when the cheers spurred us on. Indeed, the field bonded Victorians together to share the happiness adn agony of fellow Victorians. It was there that VJC truly was one college, of one voice and of one spirit. As I type, work on the field has already begun. The new track and astro turf will soon be ready. And VJC will also be ready to create more everlasting memories for all those fortunate enough to pass through our doors. It's time for new beginnings, to once again strive to bring glory to the school. The field may be gone, but the VJ spirit will continue and prosper.

5th August 2007 - A day to be remembered!!

Errr...yes, because it was daryl's and daddy's birthday BUT more importantly (even far more important than THE day of the year, 10th July 2007) it was the day where MANCHESTER UNITED FC got their devilish hands on the English FA Community Shield 2007. What a tensed game it was. Both sides could have snatched a victory but no, that wasn't the case in normal time. Strangely, the game was played for only 90 minutes and NO extra time was played. Weird? I definitely thought so. But hey, who's complaining? [rhetorical question] Ryan Giggs got United into the lead after 35 minutes with a delightful finish from an excellent Evra cut-back. Yes, the energetic Frenchman has done that countless times that it has actually become a noun [exclamation mark] But somehow, Malouda managed to get the equaliser for Chelsea (actually due to pure luck and coincidence) just before half time. Both sides fought well in the second half, showing absolutely no desire to hold back their hunger for the first domestic trophy of the new season. In the end, it all came down to penalty-shootouts. Pizarro ran and hit the ball with all his might but hey, what's the point? Van der Sar stood tall and parried the ball to safety leaving the United fans in ecstasy. Lampard was the second spot-kick taker for Chelsea and he struck the ball in the typical Frankie-power way and yet again, Van der Sar stopped the venomous shot. The third Chelsea spot-kick was taken by Wright-Phillips. He tried (good try SWP, but obviously it wasn't good enough) to place the shot low at Van der Sar's right (hmm..or was it left??) but the Dutchman made another stunning save [exclamation mark] Truly impressive. 3 out of 3 for Van der Sar and for United as well. All 3 United penalty takers (Ferdinand, Carrick and Rooney) converted their kicks ever so well to grab the first of the many many more silverwares to come for Manchester United. Quoting Joe, "And Van der Sar stands even taller..." Well said my friend. United 1, Chelsea 0.

P.S. I have no idea why I blogged this. Probably because I've got no personal blog and I really really really wanna say all these. Hmmmm... makes me wonder.
